✅ How to Fill Japanese Language Ability (For Residence Extension & CoE Applications)
This guide explains how to complete the “Japanese Language Ability” section in SpeedVisa. It covers the section structure, input rules, required formats, and common reasons why a green checkmark may not appear.
📝 Step-by-step Instructions
1. Before You Start: How This Section Works
This section is used in both:
- Residence Status Extension applications
- Certificate of Eligibility (CoE) applications
This section is made up of multiple input groups. Each input group contains several fields that you need to complete.
Input Groups:
- Prove with Japanese Test Results
- Prove with Japanese Learning History
- Proof with Other Means
👉 You should check each input group separately to confirm completion.
2. How to Check Your Progress (Green Checkmark Logic)
- When all displayed fields in an input group are completed, a green checkmark will appear.
- The group may collapse automatically after completion.
- You can reopen it anytime before submission to edit.
If a green checkmark does NOT appear:
- Some fields may still be empty
- A conditionally displayed field may be missing
- “Not Applicable” may not be checked when required
👉 Important rule:
Unless a field is marked optional, all displayed fields must be completed.
👉 Section completion:
- When all input groups have green checkmarks, the entire section will also show a green checkmark
3. Understand Input Conditions (Very Important)
Each input group includes a “Not Applicable” option.
- If checked → You do NOT need to enter any fields in that group
- If unchecked → You MUST complete all displayed fields
⚠️ If a group is visible and “Not Applicable” is not checked, leaving even one field empty will prevent completion.

6. If You Cannot See a Green Checkmark
Follow this step-by-step check:

- Open that section
- Which input group is incomplete?
- Open that group
- Check:
- Are any fields empty?
- Is “Not Applicable” unchecked?

Yes. Entering both is recommended if you have them.
What if I made a mistake?
Edit the field and click Save, or delete it using the trash icon and re-enter.

Go to:
Residence Application → Japanese Language Ability → Prove with Japanese Learning History
Then edit Start Date / End Date and click Save.
Should I include failed test results?
No. Only include passed results.
I took a test but don’t have the results yet. What should I do?

It depends:
- If your classes are in Japanese → Proof is usually required
- If your classes are in English → Usually not required (check “Not Applicable” for all)
