  • For CoE applications (before entering Japan):

    • If you will enroll as a graduate student (Master’s, PhD) or Research Student → Write your research theme.

    • If you will enroll as an exchange student or another type of student → Write “None” if you don’t have a theme.

  • For Extension of Stay applications (already in Japan):

    • If you are currently a graduate student (Master’s, PhD) or Research Student → Write your research theme.

    • If you are currently an exchange student or another type of student → Write “None” if you don’t have a theme.

  • The Research Theme is expected for graduate and research students to provide one.

  • The maximum character limit is 255 characters. Please keep your entry within this limit.
